Free Health & Wellness Workshop to Be Held for
Breast Cancer Patients and Survivors
A free health and wellness workshop for breast cancer survivors and co-survivors (their caregivers) is being offered for Vance County and surrounding area residents. The program is offered by the ‘Get REAL & HEEL’ Breast Cancer Program, the Henderson Family YMCA, and Maria Parham Medical Center, a Duke LifePoint Hospital. Funding is also provided through the NC Triangle Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®. The workshop will be held on Tuesday, February 21st, from 6:00pm – 8:30pm at the Henderson Family YMCA located at 380 Ruin Creek Road in Henderson. The topic of the workshop will be ‘Improving Emotional Health and Relationships’.
Each session is open to all breast cancer survivors, whether they are recently diagnosed or are a long-term survivor. Participants will learn interactive and hands-on techniques for stress reduction, mindfulness and emotional self-management. They will also receive a workbook and information on emotional health resources. Participants are welcome to bring one support person to the meeting.
This workshop is free of charge, but registration is required. Assistance with transportation costs is available for those who qualify. Please indicate this need during registration.
