July Lunch & Learn program planned at Maria Parham
Maria Parham Medical Center and The Heartburn Treatment Center there are hosting a FREE Lunch & Learn Program on Friday, July 22. The topic will be “Got GERD?—Getting Relief from Your Persistent Heartburn,” and the speaker will be Alexia Edwards, the Heartburn Coordinator for the Center.
Her presentation will explain GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease), its symptoms, and how the new Heartburn Treatment Center at Maria Parham can help. GERD occurs when stomach acid backs up into the esophagus, causing what is commonly known as ‘heart burn’. The acid then irritates the throat and makes it hurt. Patients may also experience a burning sensation in their chest, as well as have a dry cough and a sour taste in their mouth. Anyone who suffers with these symptoms or would like to find out more about The Heartburn Treatment Center at Maria Parham is encouraged to come.
A complimentary lunch will begin at 11:30 AM in the hospital Classroom, and the presentation will begin at Noon in the hospital Auditorium. Please call Lee Anne Peoples at (252) 436-1116 by Thursday, July 21 at 2 PM if you’d like to be included for lunch.
