Maria Parham Celebrates World Breastfeeding Week 2011
World Breastfeeding Week 2011 was celebrated internationally on August 1-7. To recognize the observance locally, mothers and their babies who were part of Maria Parham Medical Center’s In Home Breastfeeding Support Program over the last year were invited to attend an ice cream social at the hospital.
Over the past year (July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2011), Maria Parham’s In Home Breastfeeding Support Program has assisted more than 300 mothers and their babies with their breastfeeding needs. Maria Parham is working diligently to achieve ‘Breastfeeding Friendly Status’ through the NC Division of Public Health. The Lactation Team at the hospital encourages everyone to view breast milk as the most natural and best nutrition for all babies.
If you have any questions regarding breastfeeding, please call the Lactation Team at 252-436-1414. The In Home breastfeeding Support Program at Maria Parham is partially funded by Smart Start.
