MPMC Center for Rehabilitation named "2011 Top Performer" by UDSMR

5/27/2011

The Center for Rehabilitation, the inpatient rehabilitation unit at Maria Parham Medical Center, recently received notification that it was named a “2011 Top Performer” by Uniform Data System for Medical Rehabilitation (UDSMR).

Uniform Data System for Medical Rehabilitation is a company that offers rehabilitation facilities a wide range of services and tools that enable them to document the severity of patient disability and the results of medical rehabilitation in a consistent way. Establishing a common language promotes communication about disability across disciplines and provides a basis for comparison of rehabilitation outcomes.  UDSMR maintains the world’s largest database for this outcome comparison, and has noted that the Center for Rehabilitation at Maria Parham is in the top 10% of their subscribing facilities in Performance Evaluation Management rankings.  They have nearly 800 subscribers worldwide.

Pam Benters, RN, Nursing Director of the department, says of the distinction, “We maintain a high standard of care for our patients as we guide them through the rehabilitation process.  All of our staff members work hard to help our patients achieve their highest level of functioning before they are discharged back into the community setting.  While we are most satisfied with the outcomes for our patients on an individual, personal basis, we are also pleased to have been recognized as a top performer by UDSMR.”
